Someone a while back asked if we should wait for the maintainers to submit fixes for ELF or just do it given the proximity of the 3.0R deadline. The descision was to just do it. I reviewed ports/8012 and found that the fix did not make the port ELF compliant, so I committed a fix that is inline with the BCP for porting.
