Maybe anybody can help me fix it. I've installed X4.01 and Gnome 1.4 from the Ports and everything works fine, except the sound. I've compiled device pcm into my kernel. After that I made a sh MAKEDEV /dev/snd0 When I watch a DVD with vlc I get sound, but when I try to start mpg123 or xmms and try to play a mp3-file they hang and I have to kill them manually. Output of /dev/sndstat: [root@free.beastie.de ~/] -> cat /dev/sndstat FreeBSD Audio Driver (newpcm) Jul 18 2001 17:57:17 Installed devices: pcm0: at io 0x6c00 irq 5 (1p/1r channels duplex) When I do a ps auxwww, there is no process with esd. Can anybody help me.
