Hi Andreas!

I posted a followup to the the same PR. I think you missed it.
It modifies Makefile (just a docs thing) and adds a better
startup script, using the new pg_ctl (snitched from apache,
albeit). You should really use that second patch.

Since you have applied the first diff, if you insist I can fix
a diff against what is now in the CVS.

I found one thing; make -DUSE_TCL uses 'egcc' instead of CC in
two or so places...

My patches both support start/stop. The second one patch is
better... :)

I also had to fix the pg_passwd.c patch.
