Yes, with the pw(8) command.  If your scripts gain knowledge of the
passwords for accounts somewhere, you can feed the passwords to pw(8)
using its -h option.

Don't be daunted by the manual page.  It's pretty easy going once you've
gotten past the synopsis. :-)
