I've tried pre15 without success; it gives me the same errors I get with
all previous versions of the driver ("host 0 channel 0 time out, trying
harder", ad infinitum, at driver initialization) I'm currently running a
2.0.35 kernel with aic7xxx drivers that came from 2.0.33 via the expedient
of copying aic7xxx.* as well as all the source files in the aic7xxx
directory from the 2.0.33 source tree to the 2.0.35 source tree. The driver
that's part of 2.0.33 works fine in my system, as long as I have my primary
IDE interface enabled and there is an IDE drive connected to it and powered
(the IDE drive doesn't need to be recognized in CMOS setup, it just needs
to be present). Without an IDE drive, I get the same problem I've been
getting with all the other driver versions.

Does this sound similar to the problem you're having?
