Since we have two perennial problems with the ports collection: a) distfiles go away. b) distfiles are updated without changing the name. It occurs to me that maybe we should simply change our default logic in the way the sites are traversed. Why not put ftp.freebsd.org FIRST in the list, since we keep it the most faithfully up to date and don't spam ourselves (too often) with new versions. We'd put the "origin" sites after that as locations of last resort (or in cases of legal/export restrictions). I think it would result in a much higher "hit rate" for ports with most people. Comments? Jordan
