My hostname is set to xxxxx and when I try to send a mail via the consol I get: Domain of sender address root@localhost.my.domain does not exist. I understand that Iīm using a fake domain but what shall I write? If I try to send a mail from X/Mozilla I get something like: "unable to connect to your smtp please check your lousy system". I have tried setting outgoing mailserver to "localhost" and to my ISP:s smtp but it doesnīt change anyting. I get the samt error-message. My questions to you: 1. Can I set my hostname to anything I want? 2. How shall my (according to question nr.1) /etc/hosts-file look like? 3. Is there anyting else I need to do? Many thanks from a frustrated. / Jeppe To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-newbies" in the body of the message
