The /etc/passwd file is using md5 just fine, since it gets its configuration from /etc/login.conf and the passwd_format variable. Everything else has gone back to DES. Previously with the links from libcrypt to libscrypt, everything that used crypt() would use md5. I have a number of cvs pservers that used md5 in their passwd files (I was using htpasswd to create the files and the password hashs, which because of the libcrypt links created md5 passwords by default). These pservers are no longer about to compare the passwords since crypt() is spitting out DES hashs. Is there a new way to get md5 hashs out of crypt()? If so, has it been implemented in the cvs pserver?
