I just finished sucessfully setting up a network printer. The procedure I
used was much simpler than the one described in the handbook. I think
this is due to the fact that lpd can now handle filters for network
printers. I think it would be a great help to new users if the following
procedure was incorporated into the handbook. Thanks, James Saint-Rossy.
This printcap enables network printing on a HPLaserjet 5 with a Jetdirect card
It prints both ascii and postscript.
1. Install apsfilter, don't worry about the physical port.
2. Manually edit the printcap rm=IP address or DNS name
3. To get rid of banner page telnet to printer, hit return, hit ?,
type banner: 0.
