In my experience, branding isn't actually required.

I've actually got a port in perforce that is most of what you need to
do a basic Mathematica 5.1 install (minus the font stuff since I'm
actually running Grid Mathematica on a cluster).  If there's intrest,
I'll work on polishing it and get is committed.
