Here are some recents builds by me

FreeBSD topaz 4.2-STABLE FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE #0: Thu Jan 18 04:28:21
PST 2001
root@topaz:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/TOPAZ i386

FreeBSD jade 4.2-STABLE FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE #0: Sun Jan 21 22:52:18 PST
2001
root@jade:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/JADE i386

FreeBSD opal 4.2-STABLE FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE #0: Tue Jan 23 00:16:17 PST
2001
root@opal:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/OPAL i386

FreeBSD topaz 4.2-STABLE FreeBSD 4.2-STABLE #0: Tue Jan 23 23:55:30
PST 2001
root@topaz:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/TOPAZ i386

I think I would wipe out /usr/obj and start over. You might even
consider a coupld of "make cleandir" in /usr/src. This time pay
attention to the sequence in /usr/src/UPDATING. As you can see, it
works.
