Hi, it's me again.

I've got the machine to run, and I've loaded the bindist and the srcdist.
However, every time I boot, I have to give the -c option so I can switch
off pas0, which gives a panic if probed. So I would like to build a new
kernel; at least leaving out the pas0 probe. So I bought the BOOK. Yes,
O'Reilly's SMM. I've read the chapter a few times, only once is the 486
mentioned. I read that there should be a /sys, and if there isn't,
then the source should be linked to /sys. So I linked /sys to 
/usr/src (if I remember); that didn't work, although it said that it
was creating a new kernel, I never found it. Then I started from
scratch again, repartitioning and install. I copied /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/GENERIC
to /usr/src/sys/i386/conf/derek, took out the pas0 entry, and tried it
again - config derek, cd ../../compile/derek, make depend, make kernel.
Again there were lots of links missing, and it didn't compile.

Now, I'd hate to think what a novice would do with the software. There
are no hints anywhere as to what to do, how to do it, etc. I've been
SA on a Unisys 5000/90 for the last 7 years, and life was a lot easier.

Can anyone help, or send me a README or something?
