It reads: merlin.wondermutt.net kernel log messages: > Timecounter "TSC" frequency 167046505 Hz My question is: is this just telling me the processor speed, and if so, why is showing up in the output run all of a sudden? I don't recall changing anything since my last reboot, and have been running 3.3 for a couple months now. I checked in "dmesg" and pulled out the following lines, which seem to be related, based upon what I've found so far in the archives: Timecounter "i8254" frequency 1193182 Hz Timecounter "TSC" frequency 167046505 Hz The TSC line reflecting the correct processor speed, the i8254 line still not explained well based upon my searches. Bonus question: what does the i8254 tell? =) Thanks in advance, John To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
