I just put emacs on a friend's new FreeBSD machine. I first mistakenly put it on before I'd installed X, so it came up in tty mode. I pkg_deleted it, then rebuilt and reinstalled it after X and fvwm was up. Now it takes about 60 seconds to load, and I can't figure out why. On my own machine, it takes 4-5 seconds to load. Any idea what I could look for? There's 96 megs of swap on this 32 Meg machine, and swap is hardly used at all in this, even with XFree86 3.2 running. ----------------------------+----------------------------------------------- Chuck Robey | Interests include any kind of voice or data chuckr@eng.umd.edu | communications topic, C programming, and Unix. 213 Lakeside Drive Apt T-1 | Greenbelt, MD 20770 | I run Journey2 and picnic, both FreeBSD (301) 220-2114 | version 3.0 current -- and great FUN! ----------------------------+-----------------------------------------------
