One is FreeBSD 3.0-RELEASE, and the other is FreeBSD 2.2.8-STABLE and Windows NT Workstation 4. During file transfers between the 3.0-R box and NT, via SMB and FTP, I get the following error on the FreeBSD side. However, while doing NFS or FTP file transfers under FreeBSD to FreeBSD, I get no error. I received this error 54 times. lnc1: Transmit late collision -- Net error? In the kernel configuration file, I 'define' lnc as: device lnc0 at isa? port 0x280 net irq 10 drq 0 vector lncintr I disabled lnc0 on ISA in the UserConfig, since lnc1 still worked on the PCI bus. To give you an idea of my machine with the lnc driver, the dmesg is included below. Now down to the point, I'd like to know whats causing this error and if there is anyway to avoid and/or fix the problem.
