I recently got the following error message, and I don't know if this failure indicates that the SCSI disk is broken because it failed to reallocate a bad block or what. Is it possibly a kernel problem, or can I be sure this is really a disk failure? Or, have I done something stupid. Unfortunately, the /dev directory contents fall on this bad block. So, until I mknod a new /dev/kmem, I can't supply any new runtime information. I would appreciate any information someone can supply. Thanks. (Please CC: my email address. I don't read this mailing list.)
