Given the pci device id I am guessing the card really is supported though vendors sometimes re-use old pci device id's with newer parts (0x13 is a generate 5212 identified). If the hal simply couldn't read the necessary registers you could also get this error. If you can plug this card into another system and it works then you know it's an issue w/ support on your laptop. I happen to have a t61p and just tried a bunch of different cards (including one w/ this device id) and all the cards I expected to work so the best I can suggest is you try the card in another laptop.
