You give absolutely no version information with this report, giving
me little clue as to which version of FreeBSD you're talking about (we've
been around for 4 years and there are many releases now out there :).

Try this with the 3.0 SNAP or 2.2-BETA releases at ftp.freebsd.org
and you should have less trouble; there were some bugs fixed in the
MSDOS installation which are probably responsible for your problem.
