Hi: I had a similar problem with a USB keyboard. To get around the boot loader, you can try the following: 1. As soon as you see the Keyboard: no" message, hit the space bar. 2. You will then get a "boot:" prompt. Type "-Dh" (no parenthesis, of course) at that prompt. In my case, after I got by this hurdle with the boot loader (which is only preparing the system for booting the OS), I had another problem after the FreeBSD operating system booted. I found that my system, which had a USB keyboard and mouse, also had some hidden PS/2 ports. FreeBSD does not support USB "out-of-the-box" and was, I believe, looking for keyboard input from the PS/2 ports. Ultimately, I had to purchase a PS/2 keyboard and mouse. I have an Acer Aspire 1640.
