You didn't read the FreeBSD handbook, which should be the first place to turn to when you need help. Read the section on configuring X at http://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/x-config.html 3) Ignore the guy who said that you need to start GNOME from gdm or xdm. That's quite incorrect. 4) Go to http://www.freebsd.org/gnome and click on "Installation Instructions." It's the second link from the top.
