Hi all, I have big problems to get a HP DAT drive working under FreeBSD 2.1.0-RELEASE. ncr0 <ncr 53c810 scsi> rev 2 int a irq 9 on pci0:1 ncr0 waiting for scsi devices to settle (ncr0:0:0): "QUANTUM EMPIRE_1080S 1202" type 0 fixed SCSI 2 sd0(ncr0:0:0): Direct-Access sd0(ncr0:0:0): FAST SCSI-2 125ns (8 Mb/sec) offset 8. 1029MB (2109376 512 byte sectors) sd0(ncr0:0:0): with 2874 cyls, 8 heads, and an average 91 sectors/track (ncr0:4:0): "TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-5301TA 0925" type 5 removable SCSI 2 cd0(ncr0:4:0): CD-ROM cd0(ncr0:4:0): asynchronous. cd present.[186827 x 2048 byte records] (ncr0:6:0): "HP HP35480A 1109" type 1 removable SCSI 2 st0(ncr0:6:0): Sequential-Access st0(ncr0:6:0): 200ns (5 Mb/sec) offset 8. density code 0x13, variable blocks, write-enabled Using amanda's amrestore, I can produce the following error: st0(ncr0:6:0): COMMAND FAILED (4 88) @f08ea400. st0(ncr0:6:0): Deferred Error: MEDIUM ERROR asc:9,0 Track following error After that the machine sometimes crashes a couple of minutes later. The tape seems to wind forward and then backward and then panics. I tried another tape in another SP3G with NCR. I really have no idea where the problem really is. Hardware? Software? Please help!
