Can I do the same with a SSD or does it need to be setup > differently? dd doesn't care what kind of drive it is (as long as it's not a cd/dvd). Remember though that if the new SSD has a higher capacity than the old drive, dd will not automatically expand any of the partition info for you- you'll have to tweak it later.
