First, i was on FreeBSD 4.8 and vmware2 work... But all guest os crash cause of SIMD function [Athlon XP processor] (and i have not found any solution on the net... Just people who have the same problem). So, i decided to upgrade to FreeBSD 5.0-RELEASE-p7 and i try vmware3.2 ... But (although i have successfully applied kernels patchs) when /usr/local/etc/rc.d/vmware.sh try to load vmmon.ko my system panic... And a friend have the same problem! When we load vmmon.ko we get this message (seems to be report by devfs driver): ----------------- WARNING: Driver mistake: repeat make_dev("console") Panic: don't do that {and a lot of things due to panic :-(} ----------------- I have tried to load vmnet module and there is no problem ... All versions: * ports : up-to-date at 15/5/03 vmware3-3.2.1-2237_1 * vmmon included : vmmon-freebsd-0.98.tar.gz on vmmon-only-3.2.1-20030514.tar.gz * vmnet included : vmnet-freebsd-0.21.tar.gz on vmnet-only-3.2.1-20030412.tar.gz ....
