Please.  Address all questions to the mailing list.  You will get an 
answer quicker and people will correct my mistakes.  And I do make 
mistakes.

To get 2.2.8-stable, I used cvsup.  No doubt you can do the same for 3.1.  
At my website, you'll see how I did it.  Look under topics for cvsup.
