Initial phases from floppy go OK, but on rebooting from the hard disk the network doesn't come up properly. Ping works (to/from a variety of other systems), but anything higher level (telnet, ftp, NFS) doesn't: looks like only one direction of transmission is working. Thus I can't get any further. Hardware is unremarkable: 486SX25, AMI BIOS 8MB 420MB IDE NE2000 clone Trident 8900 SVGA and runs 1.1R (or NT 3.5 :-{ ) just fine. I've installed the same distribution with no problems on a 486DX66 with IDE & SCSI, Mitsumi CDROM, NE2100; but that was straight off the CD (Infomagic/BSDisc). Any ideas? Any chance this is SX specific? -- Bob Bishop (01734) 774017 international code +44 1734 rb@gid.co.uk fax (01734) 894254 between 0800 and 1800 UK
