You can start FreeBSD from NT's Boot Mangler. My computer currently runs 95, NT4, and FreeBSD, all started from the NT boot menu. I think you'll need to re-install NT though (cos it's boot stuff is on the wrong drive). Install your 1GB HD as slave. BACKUP ANYTHING YOU CAN"T AFFORD TO LOSE!!! If you can't boot from your CD-ROM make a FreeBSD boot floppy, just in case it all goes tits up (shouldn't do, but the best laid plans of mice and men...etc), and make sure it works. Make a copy of the FreeBSD boot sector (change ``wd0s1'' to suit your system): dd if=/dev/wd0s1 of=/tmp/bootsect.bsd bs=512 count=1 Double check the above in the FAQ as I'm doing this from memory (I'm at work). Copy /tmp/bootsect to the root dir of you FAT partition (i.e. C:\). Now re-install NT on the second drive. It will overwrite your MBR so when you restart you will get the NT boot menu with 95 and NT on it. Boot 95 or NT and edit C:\BOOT.INI (it's read-only, hidden, system so you'll have to use ``attrib -r -s -h BOOT.INI'' first) and make an entry for FreeBSD by copying the 95 entry, changing ``BOOTSECT.DOS'' to ``BOOTSECT.BSD''. Reboot, and you should see FreeBSD on the menu. Select it and FreeBSD should boot :-). Support for mounting NTFS partitions is in 3.2, but support can be added to 2.2.x and 3.1.
