When I log on it (ascii mode) I log on it well as root. I can start graphic interphace with startx with afterstep. To start xdm I made all the modifications that are advised in the book the complete freebsd 2.2.6 to set xdm (Ch 15: Setting up your FreeBsd desktop p 229). When I start xdm, I have an interface that ask me my login and my password. The problem is that when I enter my login and my password in it the interface (1) change itself for a weird screen and then it comes back to the first interface (cf 1). I thought that the problem came from the fact I started xdm when I was login under root, so I tried to start directly with the screen by setting up a virtual terminal. The problem is still the same. I tried the online help (included on the first CD) but nothing enlighted me and even the handbook. Is there any new file that I have to include to solve this problem. Thanx a lot for the one that help me to solve this problem. Seb To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
