IMO proceed as usual: * submit a PR * make sure it is assigned to what MAINTAINER=3D says (x11@freebsd.org?) * wait and possibly commit after maintainer timeout; probably send a followup that you intend to commit this via maintainer timeout some time before you actually commit (you are not enforced to do this via some policy).
