But only the first PCI slot is usable. That's OK for right now, but I have a RAID controller ordered. So I'll need at least two of them working. Does anyone know why it can detect cards in other slots but then timeout when trying to communicate with them? Do I gain anything by explicitly setting NBUS=2 in my kernel config, as opposed to just allowing it to use the default 4? I would think that if I had more busses than 4 that this would be significant, but I'm always interested in learning new things. :) BTW, took a look at the -dmesg option and it seems to me that it would be better to use /var/run/dmesg.boot since just using 'system( "dmesg" );' can include lots of non-boot related info, and might not actually include the boot info if there have been a lot of kernel messages. I can do a patch if anyone is interested....
