The thing that is odd is that with a 4 byte mode page header this
would be byte 5 of the parameter page which is the low byte of the
"disable pre-fetch transfer length".  If it starts to
number from the parameters it is parameter byte 9 which is the low byte of
the maximum pre-fetch.

Can you edit the modes and write them out if you don't change anything?
If you can't we have a bigger problem with this drive.
