Some BIOSes have a facility where you can mark IRQs used by legacy ISA devices as reserved, so PnP won't use them. For example, on my Award BIOS machine, there is a "PNP AND PCI SETUP" option in the main BIOS setup screen that can be used for this purpose. If you have something like this, you should mark IRQ 7 as reserved. The pnpinfo output suggests that 9 would be the next choice if 7 is taken... Hope this helps...
