In general this is caused by the BIOS being configured wrong, but I
can't remember whether there was another problem with this system. And I
can't remember whether I've seen any USB devices attached to it.

I'll have a look whether I can borrow his this weekend.

Best bet: switch off USB keyboard support in the BIOS and switch on USB
conroller (if that is at all switchable). Let me/us know whether that
worked for you.
