When I saw this line I immediately suspected it to cause the problem.
And indeed: I removed the line and now it compiles whithout complaint.

I do not understand where this file comes from. It is not part
of a package.

  # pkg which /usr/local/share/xml/catalog.ports
  /usr/local/share/xml/catalog.ports was not found in the database
