Not at all. I've had versions of Freebsd from 2.1.5 through
3.2-Stable running on a dell server for years and never had a lick of
trouble. They build good boxes with standard components and provide
excellent support. In fact, I like dell so much I bought the company! (Ok,
just some stock, but I do own a chunk. :)
