The following reply was made to PR ports/26916; it has been noted by GNATS. From: Jean-Sebastien ROY <jean-sebastien.roy@wanadoo.fr> To: jean-sebastien.roy@wanadoo.fr Cc: freebsd-gnats-submit@FreeBSD.org Subject: Re: ports/26916: New port : Mupad 2.0 Date: Tue, 1 May 2001 13:47:43 +0200 >The maintainer of math/mupad sent me patch to update it to 2.0 and I'm >planning to commit it. Fine. >Your mupad2 port looks quite similar to >existing version for me. Similar to the mupad port ? Of course. Only differences are in the patches and few lines in the makefile. >o Did you ask math/mupad maintainer to update it? No, because I needed it now, so I did it for me and submitted it in hope it could be useful. >o Do you have good reason to create new port over updating existing one? Mupad 1.4 and 2.0 are quite different beasts, and v 2.0 is still not available on some platforms (eg. Mac), so I (in fact the users I'm made this port for) needed to be able to install both at the time. It's probably not relevant for the ports collection, so a patch to the previous port is probably better than a new port. regards, js To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-ports" in the body of the message
