However, the shell, the setting of the TERM variable, all this nasty things 
don't touch my colols behavior forever on my box (2.1.7 and XF86-32). I just 
make some tests.

I have no further ideas, what's wrong there. Try a 'colorls -Gl / | less' and 
look if the escape sequences are displayed.
