Hello to all,

The traffic on -questions already is close to what someone whose main
job is not to read mail can stand... and yes, I know this mail adds to
the noise, but could we just refrain from jumping aboard those stupid
"I have a bigger O/S than yours" wars ?

Or at least let's make a new list for that!

Obvious flame baits and/or stupid questions are regularily posted to
this list, and just about every time people feel like giving equally
stupid and biased replies (sometimes not even technically accurate,
sometimes badly outdated).

I don't give a $%#@#% about which O/S is the best. I really feel that
no simple answer can be given. It really depends too much on what
people expect from their O/S, what their hardware/software
compatibility, reliability, ease of install etc. requirements are, and
of course nobody clearly states that when asking which is the best.

Please, please, at least reply privately to such messages, or let's
have a new list for those who can't resist making the whole world know
that every sensible person ought to be convinced that their O/S is
better than the other.

Back to your regularily scheduled O/S wars,
_Alain_

PS: yes, I know I have replied to such a question in the past. I regret
it now.

I've RTFMed. It says: "Refer to your system administrator"
But... I *am* the system administrator :-]
