I have joined the Yahoo group, freebsd-questions, and
receive at least one digest from the address
freebsd-questions@yahoogroups.com daily, often two.
However, I cannot post to that list, having tried
several variations of the address, never explicitly
given in the information about the group.

Is freebsd-questions@freebsd.org the same list as the
one hosted on Yahoo? If not, I'd like to join that one
too. How would I do that?

If it is, on the other hand, how do I send messages to
it? I know I am on that distribution list.
