Well, I guess when you installed FreeBSD, there's a good chance that the hanbook that was current at the time your FreeBSD version was released, has been installed on your machine under /usr/share/doc/handbook. It should all be in HTML format, and you will find many more information under /usr/share/doc. If you want the "current" version of the handbook, you can get it "up to the minute" with CVSup. Certainly there will also be a snapshot available on the FreeBSD FTP servers.
