Define "specs". Well, FreeBSD supports about every normal modem that supports the AT command set. This excludes some cheap Winmodems, but I guess these aren't good anyway. On http://www.freebsd.org/handbook you will find the FreeBSD handbook, along with information how to get your modem to work. Assuming you want to use ppp, you will find everything you need to know there. If you want to use your modem for other things (terminal dial-up access, receiving faxes, etc), then the FreeBSD handbook is also a good place to start, but you may need some of the additional software found in /usr/ports/comms.
