Yup, I do this on a couple boxes here. I use lilo, and it works just fine. You want to point lilo to an "other" partition, like: [all the other lilo stuff] other=/dev/hda3 table=/dev/hda label=bsd This works well for me, and I can even wipe out freebsd and install any other bsd in the same partition, and I don't have to rerun lilo. I prefer lilo to the freebsd boot manager, mostly because I learned it first and it's never been hard to make it do what I want. Sometimes you have to reboot a few times, though. To do the BSD thing like this, if the debian installer doesn't know how to deal with "other" partitions when it asks you to set up lilo during the install, you'd have to boot into linux, set up lilo as described, run lilo, and reboot. Until you get lilo configured right, your freebsd partition will be inaccessible.
