I did a "blind purchase" of such a barebone, no software, no drivers, finding out that the good idea of such a system booting unix has been "3-wared", meaning that this system is not "open" any more, restricting the use of storage to the political intentions 3ware wanted the system to give (such as disabling nfs). Anyway, there is a freebsd booting.
