I know that this particular joke appeared in a TECO munging package (that turned the moderately readable .TES TECO Source into .TEC files that resembled line noise). This was in 1980 or so from sources that then dated back another 10 years at least, so it is quite possible (maybe even likely) that the joke was imported into it before then. Warner
