Port 388, to me, is indicative of a OPL-3 [Yamaha] Midi-Synthesizer. Are you using
a SB-Clone? I hae used one successfully, but you have to trick it, and for sound,
requires running the soundcard init program. Mine is sndinit. That means I have to
run DOS to get all I want out of FreeBSD. Yuck. Did you mess with
isa/sound/soundconfig.h ?  Perhaps the missing line had something to do with the
keyword conflicts?    Kris
