Yesterday it seemed to take > 10 seconds to start a new program after I had been doing large operations on gcc-2.7.0 (compiling while copying and rm -rf'ing old versions). There was time to switch consoles and attempt to start programs on several consoles. Usually the delays seem to be only 1-2 seconds. They have been happening for 6 months except perhaps in May. Bruce
