Here's what I have on my system:

  devel/autoconf
  devel/autoconf213
  devel/automake
  devel/automake14
  devel/autotools
  devel/libtool

(That's not counting the -wrapper convenience ports.)

So: one antiquated version each of autoconf and automake.

$ dependson autoconf-2.1 | wc -l
      73
$ dependson autoconf | wc -l
     910
$ dependson automake-1.4 | wc -l
      31
$ dependson automake | wc -l
     325

('dependson' is just a script that greps INDEX.)

Summary: there used to be a lot of auto* ports.  There aren't, now.
