When I plug the modem into my Windows 95 box and do a terminal session from there, everything is echoed, and I'm yet to experience any line-dropping while my modem's plugged into my Windows machine. > Regarding the select() error, I'm not sure where this is coming from. Here's what pstat -T returned right now; my modem dropped the connection about 15 minutes ago: 66/360 files 429 vnodes 3M/26M swap space When I'm online, this changes to: 72/360 files 430 vnodes 3M/26M swap space What do you think? Another strange thing to note occurs during startup, where I get a message: ed1 (my ethernet card) failed to clear shared memory at d8000. Would this have something to do with the problem? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with the term "system-wide open files". What does this mean? Thanks again for your help. Regards, Andrew Stevens.
