 I use DAEX to extract the audio from my drive (ATAPI) and l3enc to encode
it.  l3enc is commercial, unfortunately.

 Supposedly you can use TOSHA to extract audio from SCSI drives, but I
haven't had much luck with it...  it should be available in the ports
collection.
