Dear Sir; I'm a newbie to freebsd, but what I know until now, it's a great OS. But, there are things I'm not understandig, can you please help me ? System : pentium 100 MHz, 32MB, NE2000 compatible (IRQ9, port 340h), FreeBSD 3.2. 1) I've compiled gtk+-1.2.5 to install Xfce, but when I've tried to install AbiWord, it ask me for gtk 1.2.3, so I've installed that via pkg_add. Now I have three diferent versions of gtk instaled om my system , why ? What does happen when I have different versions of libraries on my system ? It's a problem ? :) 2) Why my FTP is so slow ? It's a 10Mb network with 5 computers. When I ftp to other server( a Win95 !) I get a 150-700 kbs per second, but when another computer ftp to this server it's 5(!)-100 kbs per second, why? It's the network config(DNS not set nor router)? when I log in it's not wu-ftpd I see on incoming message but : >Connecting to 10.4.1.0 port 21 (23.12.1999 02:49:55) >220 millenium.neovia.com.br FTP server (Version 6.00) ready. >USER vrs >331 Password required for vrs. >PASS >230 User vrs logged in. >SYST >215 UNIX Type: L8 Version: BSD-199506 I've instaled wu-ftpd-2.4.2v17 via sysinstall, but I'm not sure if it's serving ftp. Should I configure that at somewhere ? 3) can I, at what cost, use these web/ftp/database(mySQL) server with XWindows ? 4) can I trust in webmin 0.74 ? ok, don't trust nobody... :) 5)where could I get a apache+php(sql)+SSL package ? 6) where can I find a vector(eps, etc) version of FreeBSD logo ? It's not for commercial use, just do some propaganda... Thanks in advance, I wait for your answering ... vilmar rodrigues P.S. excuse me for my spelling _____________________________________________________________ http://www.zipmail.com.br O e-mail que vai aonde voc=EA est=E1. _____________________________________________________________ To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
