Patch to distinguish with separate error messages

While playing around with port options, specifically a "single" (only allow=
s a
single option), I was getting errors and was unsure if the options I set we=
re
actually applied correctly. Long story short: I had to figure out if the er=
ror
"You must select one and only one option from the ${single} single" meant t=
hat
1) I have not chosen any option or 2) I have chosen more than one.

Hence I propose the attached patch to help beginners (like me) by clearly
distinguishing those two error cases with separate error messages.
